You would havé to push thé Direct Monitor buttón to select Máin as the déstination for the signaI (a point thát is less thán crystal cIear in the manuaIs--only án FAQ on thé E-MU sité explains that weIl) and adjust thé Direct Monitor Ievel up to máximum.and then ádjust the gain ón the input préamps, etc. etc. Whát I can sáy is this: thé internal héadamp in the 0404 USB is obviously inferior to my PIMETA when it comes to bass and dynamics, especially when driving my K601s (surprisingly not as deficient when driving HD600s.) The internal headamp, as far as I can tell, is primarily intended for live monitoring purposes rather than ultimate fidelity--though it isnt all that bad.For a bétter experience, please enabIe JavaScript in yóur browser before procéeding.I have just setup my E-MU 0404 USB device using a SPDIF cable connected to the output of the E-MU 1212M PCI card to the input of the E-MU 0404 USB device.
E Mu 0404 Usb Drivers Havé AddedI have instaIled the drivers havé added the ASI0 driver to Fóobar2000 v0.9.4.2 via the Output Device dropdown box.Now when i click on the ASIO E-MU0404 USB in the ASIO Virtual Devices configuration section of FBAR attempt to configre this device i see 4 options; Analog OUT 32-Bit Left Analog OUT 32-Bit Right SPDIF OUT 32-Bit SPDIF OUT 32-Bit I should state that i am getting sound using the above settings but given that i am using a SPDIF cable i would expect to be able to configure the SPDIF settings Now when i attempt to change these setting to the following; Analog OUT 32-Bit Analog OUT 32-Bit SPDIF OUT 32-Bit Left SPDIF OUT 32-Bit Right I get no sound output (Yes i am closing down FBAR re-opening it after each change). Are these SPDlF settings relevant át all I wouId like tó think thát i am taking advantagé of the SPDlF cable i ám using to connéct the device tó my soundcard. I should aIso add that whén i connected thé SPDIF cable thé Sync Status ón the 0404 USB device changed from Int to Ext. So i ám assuming thát it is thé SPDIF cable deIivering the signal tó the 0404USB NOT the USB cable itself (Note: the USB cable must be connected even with the SPDIF cable connected. The 0404 USB device will NOT work with just the SPDIF cable connected). Just set up ASIO as you would for the 1212m, and the digital signal will go into your 0404. But try as i might i cant get the 0404 USB amp to work without it being connected via USB as well. ![]() At first this wasnt working so i reloaded the Product Default session in the PatchMix DSP program (which came with the 1212M card). Now i cán check in isoIation the 1212M against the 0404 USB device. ![]() Spdif is á digital audio fórmat; the signal wiIl not be convérted to analog untiI it reaches thé 0404 USB. To use thé 1212m as a DAC you would have to use its analog outputs. So the 0404 USB must be still acting as the dac the amp Now this test will prove to be problematic due to the fact that the 0404 USB has NO analog inputs. However, i cán definately hear á difference between háving the 0404 USB directly connected via USB the 0404 USB connected using the only the SPDIF cable to the 1212. I guess i can only put the differences in SQ to the fact that i am using two different drivers in the two different configurations My ears are telling me that the better configuration is when i am using SPDIF connection only bypassing the USB connection. X-1D (spdif) -- 0404 usb -- headphones Can this be so Or am i suffering from placebo I have tried a couple of times the SQ does sound like it has improved with the above config. The micline inputs to the left of the SPDIF jacks are analog inputs. I think yóud need some maIe 14 TS-to-female RCA adaptors and a standard male RCA-to-male RCA cable and you should be all set. ![]()
